WORLD MIXED CHAMPIONSHIP, ABERDEEN

The first International competition of the year will see the England Mixed team participate in the World Mixed Championship at Aberdeen between 15th and 22nd October.

The team is Jonathan Havercroft, Fiona Spain (Skip), Michael Opel and Samantha Leung and their opposition in the group stage are: Australia, Austria, Hungary, Luxembourg, Mexico, Scotland, Slovakia and Switzerland.

In total 36 nations have entered including first time appearances for Kenya, Mexico, Ukraine, Portugal and India.

Our best performance in an International Mixed Championship came in 2009 when the team of Alan MacDougall, Lana Watson, Andrew Reed and Suzie Law won the bronze medal in the European Mixed Championship. The same team also came 4th in 2010.

The European Mixed Championship began in 2005 and then was upgraded to a World Championship in 2014. Scotland have won the most titles with 5 but Canada have been victorious on the last two occasions, including the last pre-Covid event at Aberdeen in 2019
